WHAT ARE MICRONEEDLING
AND DERMAPLANING?
Microneedling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, and it consists in a quick session in which micro-punctures in the skin are caused to induce a natural overload of collagen and to allow for the following skincare to penetrated deeper into the skin. It's used to tackle enlarged pores, loss of elasticity, sun damage, fine wrinkles and scaring, including acne scars.
Dermaplaning is a deep exfoliation treatment that removes peach fuzz and up to several weeks of dead skin build-up, leaving you with a fresh layer of skin that looks and feels smooth, radiant, and brand new!
Both treatments can be combined together and with the amazing Clinicare facials on our menu.
WHAT SKINCARE BRAND DO YOU USE?
At Aesthetica, our favourite skincare brand is Clinicare: a wonderful line of cosmeceutical products that really delivers results as you would expect a professional product to do. From the "standard" facial products, to the microneedling serums, to the home care range, we couldn't be happier to stock Clinicare.
Clinicare Refresh/Cinderella: An anti-ageing treatment for combating and preventing signs of ageing, smoothing skin and restoring radiance. Low molecular weight Hyaluronic acid and natural plant extracts provides skin with deep moisture and restores skin tissue damaged by stress and environmental factors. While active ingredients such as Argireline and Peptides with Epidermal Growth Factors have a lifting and tightening effect. The result will be smooth, fresh and younger looking skin.
Clinicare Glow: Revive tired, uneven and dull looking skin and lighten pigmentation, often caused by excessive sun exposure and stress, with this targeted treatment. With enriched Arbutin, which effectively targets skin problems such as melasma, age spots and hyperpigmentation, and low molecular weight Hyaluronic acid for a long lasting boost of hydration. The result is restored luminosity and a brighter, more radiant complexion.
Clinicare Pure: This intensely soothing treatment relieves irritated complexions and targets hyperactive sebaceous glands. Low molecular weight Hyaluronic acid together with natural plant extracts provides skin with the moisture it requires for a clearer, healthier looking complexion. While Green Tea extract and Witch Hazel disinfect and repress inflammation through their antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
The downtime from microneedling and dermaplaning is virtually none: redness and in some cases some light swelling are to be expected for the first 48 hrs (but usually subside within the first day), then everything can resume as normal.
AFTERCARE
- For 48 hours you should avoid exposure to UV light and heat i.e. sauna, steam, sun beds, hot showers, strenuous exercise etc, as this may increase discomfort and swelling.
- Keep the area cool with a cold compress if you need to, but don’t apply ice which can cause injury.
- Reduce the risk of infection and reaction by not touching the area for at least 6 hours.
- Do not apply make-up for the first 48 hrs.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory drugs (i.e. ibuprofen).
